Dark Peak Model Aircraft Club (DPMAC) is based in Glossop, Derbyshire and was formed in 1984 to provide a focal point for model flying in the area. Our oldest members have been flying on our club sites for over 30 years, and flying on our sites is known to have taken place well before then.
The club runs a number of events and competitions throughout the year, and rounds the year out with our Christmas Party – at which the raffle prizes can only be described as unusual!
Some of the events we have previously organised are:
- Full-size gliding evening
- Efficiency competition (with a prize of free membership for the year)
- Table-top sales
- Model demonstrations
- Inter-club competitions
- Club trips to model shows
- Flight simulator demonstrations at Glossop Carnival
See our Events page
We have three flying sites, and access to a slope site:
- Cemetery Road playing fields, Glossop
- St Margaret’s Primary School playing fields, Gamesley
- Longdendale Community College playing fields, Hollginworth
- Lower Combes Rocks, off Monk’s Road, between Chunal and Charlesworth

We have club instructors, who are happy to help you learn to fly, and to help ensure your experience is a pleasant one.
If you are interested in flying model aircraft, why not Contact Us for more information? By prior arrangement we are happy to give free model flying lessons on our club equipment for you to see if model flying is for you. Please find below a flyer with details of our free model flying lessons for anyone interested in taking up the hobby.
If you are interested in flying model aircraft, or are already doing so, and want to know more about our club, feel free to join us on a Sunday afternoon at Cemetery Road playing fields, Glossop, drop us a line using our Contact Us page, or pop in to our monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:30pm for 8pm.
